1997 f 150 going dead

Hi all my f 150 with 146000 on it has started going dead while at a stop at idel. it has been running perfect until the other day when i had to replace the - ground on the battery cable. after i cranked it back up i had a rough idel. i drove about 15 miles to town stoped at a light and went dead. it has went dead several times since . Runs perfect down the road. thanks for any help.

Sounds as if you may have inadvertently knocked a vacuum hose off/loose while working around the battery?

Have you replaced the IAC valve? When they get dirty they cause the idle to drop. Cleaning them will or may buy you some time but it's better to just buy a new one.

loose vacuum lines

I have a 98 F150 that has had the same problem. Just between the battery and firewall there is a group of three vaccuum lines that I have had to reconnect a couple of times.

I had the battery out today looking for that but did not see any loose. Seems like I can hear a leak somewhere but not around the battery. Like I said it started doing this only after I installed a new battery. Thanks for your help
