Thanks KWIK, now if I read your post right, the test can be done with a 12 volt test light on the four large connectors.
If I have a bad one, what am I looking at for replacement time?

2. Depends on what you have access to. Me, I have air tools and 26 years under the hood. I replaced all eight injectors and glow plugs, and had the engine running in less than five hours taking my time with a lunch break.
No offence intended, everyones experience will vary depending on tools, ability and experience.
