Front Driveshaft Length Question

My 79 F-150 has a Dana 44 front end. Could I go 6 inches of suspension lift without needing a longer drive shaft? The axle is a HP.

Not sure you might post this down in the Suspension forum or Offroad forum.

no you will need a longer drive shaft in the front with a 6in. but not in the back. the back is just long enough but the front is about an inch short but it would be maxed out. I had front and rear shafts made for only $350. A suggestion though for the front, because of the trans crossmember the stock diameter shaft will hit the member. when you get one made have them make it a smaller diameter shaft and the rear a lil bigger. So if you wanna have the height of the 6in then add about $300-500 for shafts. I loved the six on my truck. wouldn't want it any smaller. i was still able to fit under the drive thoughs yet look really big goin down the road. So i recommend the six if you wanna spend the extra on shafts, i think it's worth it but it's up to you.

Thanks for the advice. I've got a 4in skyjacker now, I'm about to put on some 2 inch coil brackets to boost it up.
