Thinking the same thing here...I did not want a white replacement steering damper. I purchased and installed a Monroe steering damper.
Here is the part # SC2961. One of the reasons for going with Monroe...is the OEM damper is to expensive (IMO). But I like the color black...and did not want a white or other color down there. Trying to keep it looking OEM.
They cost about $30.00 and a direct fit replacement. Took me about 10 minutes to replace mine a few weeks ago. The damper works well...and I am very happy with the Monroe.
Thanks biz.. I know that bilstein has a nickel plated but cannot see on the web which one fits the stock mounts. I will take a look at the monroe shock. Did you get it at autozone or somewhere like that?
The monroe works fine...but just to mention...I am all OEM...even tire size. So for my app...it just Works! If you have a lift with over-sized tires, then I would recommend a dual setup.
