Ford heads a problem?

Not to start any arguments here, I'm just trying to find some opinions on head thread problems.. if any. I have read that the Triton engines blow out spark plugs. I've been looking at V-10 trucks (my gas is free if I use my truck for work), and have seen a lot of bad info on the 1999 TRiton V-10's. The only problem I have read about so far is that the threads in the heads are too shallow for the plugs. Is this a problem for anyone?
I am looking at a 1999 V-10 F-250 and a 2001 F-250, both crew cabs (I have a couple rodents) Both are priced in the 12k range. Both trucks have comparable miles (around 90-100k).
Ive owned Fords all my driving years, then I ended up with a Suburban with 160k on it.... now its got 280k and still a reliable truck.. (dang that thing anyhow)
1. Yes I've read all the specs on torque and horsepoer... but how does it "feel" towing"?
2. Reliability? How many helicoils have you put in?
3. Any other problems?
Just a general honest opinion is all I want.
Just for argument sake..... Im looking at a 5.9 Cummins powered *$&*^.
