Picked up a 302 on the weekend and tore it apart. Two pistons were stuck, and I got them out with a chunk of wood. The block has been punched out 40 over already so I don't think there is enough meat left to clean up the rust. I'm on the hunt for another 302. I cant believe how short the connecting rods are on this engine, but all I have been looking at is my 429 sitting on the stand for two years and those rods are long.
The stock mustang II suspension would be flat on it's face with a 429 in it. The car is pretty light and would like to keep it simple, I can get 302 springs for my suspension.
My brother has one for free out by grandora. He would like to get out of his garage. It ran, but one cyl was dead. He has some 351's to get out. He is a chevy guy. So he wants them gone. PM me if you want and I will give you his number.
me? i dont need no motor, i really wanna get my hands on a REAl 428 CJ up the road from me for the 79 truck, ive still gotta get rid of my 352. personally though, if i was going for a rat rod look, i would try and find a flat head..........actually.........if i had any choice, id try and get my hands on that Red Ram hemi that i believe SnowKing has in his possession.....that would look nice. a more uncommon car, with a somewhat uncommon motor.
A flat head would be my first choice. they look so cool and i like hot rods done traditionally. the old hemi would be sweet or even a straight 6 or a Y block. when was the last time you saw a hot rod with a Y-block.
Thanks for the responses guy's I will get in touch soon. Id reallly like to put in a flattie but they are way to expensive to rebuild, and all that money and still under 150hp.
