Transmission slip??
I have a 2001 Ranger 4x4 4.0l SOHC automatic with about 92,000 miles on it. Recently I have been experiencing a slight transmission slip I think as I have never really encountered this before so I am not exactly sure if that is what it is. When driving and usually shifting from 1st to 2nd, it sometimes will not shift at the correct time, sounds like it wants to but rpm's just kinda keep going up probably to around little over 3000. I am not slammin in the gas so I would expect it to shift much sooner. Sometimes shifting from other gears the rpm's will jump up 200-300 before it shifts, truck does not accelerate just the rpm's increase. Two weeks ago I changed the trans fluid was a little dark and slightly burnt smell, also changed trans fluid around 65,000 miles so it is the 2nd change, filter changed as well both times. There were not any obvious metal shavings in the fluid. I have read a little bit about the Throttle Position Sensor and it says similiar things can occur if that is going bad or is bad. Any ideas if that may be correct or other things that may cause this.
Thanks Alot,
Kris
