Front end problem

I have what feels like something is loose or worn out when i go over a bump. 03 with 70,000 miles on it. What should i be checking other than the shocks? Where is the best place to get new shocks? I don't do much off roading just mostly city/highway driving. Thanks

possibly sway bar bushings, check the blocks on the axle, and your drop links. they are probally worn and making the noise.

ponch37300, look at my recent post
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/5...end-knock.html
mine is an 03 w/64500 miles, jacked it up and moved the wheels left to right and found tie rod ends were trashed. You may have the same problem.

i would vote for sway bar bushings. crawl under your truck and where the bar is attached to the axle try to move the bar up and down. if it moves at all replace them and your clunk will likely go away.

Or ball joints. I just had mine replaced. 3 were bad. most of the noise is gone. Only noise I hear now is the loose swaybar.

Ponch37300 I got my tie rod ends from the local NAPA. They were priced reasonably and had lifetime gurantee too.

sway bar bushings get from ford unless you want urethane. I have always had a problem with napa and carquest giving me the wrong size bushings. Ford get it right everytime and they aren't much money. Everything else i would get them from your local parts store.

I had a popping noise also, and it turned out to be one of the bushings (this one was the upper one) that was bad in the sway bar link, that connects the sway bar to the frame. My new links had new bushings, and now the sound is gone. I have one link that is still good, if you want it, you're able to have it.

yep, that is what i installed when mine went bad, and the clunking stopped.
as far as replacing the drop link bushings, ford did not offer replacement's except for the entire drop link, something like $80 ea.
