does anyone know if these 2 pitmen arms are the same size 96 f 250 4x4 heavy duty and a 88 f 350 4x4 dana 60 straight axle with king pins.reason i ask is im going to swap the axle from the 88 into my 96 250 to make it a straight axle.and the truck im getting the axle off of doesnt have the pitmen arm on it at the local bone yard so i cant match them up.I called ford today and they didnt even know whats up with that?grrrrr
80-96 F-series trucks as well as broncos use the exact same gear boxes, meaning all pitman arms will interchange! however some may be clocked differently then other for different placement of TRE's
The pitman arms aren't always the same, the F350's tend to have a bigger, beefier unit, but, I've seen F250's with the same one, or one with more drop to it.... Clocking usually is the same.
he was asking if the pitman arms would interchange and if there were different sizes of sector shafts, which there were not. henced the reason i said they are all the same. yes some are more beefy then others but so are leaf springs from an F350 but they will bolt in to a F150 rear
you can use the pitmen arm from the f 250 on the 350.but when i put a dana 60 straight axle on my 250 it needed to be 2 inches longer because the dana 60 will rise your suspension up 2 inches.so i had a 6 inch sus lift with a 6" drop pitmen arm.that was fine untill i put in the dana 60 straight axle off an 88 350 like what you want to do.so after that i had to get an 8 inch drop pitmen arm because it was pulling on it making my iroks shake real bad.if it doesnt work just order a 2" drop pitmen arm from skyjacker.
