Exclamation OK..I bought this, And Im afraid to use it...Its Long winded too....

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...edrule1=StoreC

I can use some help from some more experienced people out there but this is the Hookup instructions (abbreviated)...First locate the ICP sensor..99-2003 locate the wire thats blue w/green stripe. If you unplug the connector and look into the pins, there will be 2 pins side by side and one just below the other two, the one by itself is the "Magic" wire.splice the blue green wire to the red on module and ground the Black wire from the Module. This point your ready to go..The selector switch enables and disables this Modification. The rotary switch is from left to right More economy- More Extreme"....Is this a Mod I really want to be messing with..It has nothing to do with the ecm. Im real Hesitant about this now and can use some opinions...I only Paid 75$ for it so thats no big deal..I dont want to do any harm to My truck.

You took the bait on this, from desire.
Chalk it up to a mistake and get a real tuner with several levels of program.
It's plug in, makes the program changes and no splicing or other alterations.
You can remove it and the new program stays or leave it connected.

I'm with Bluegrass 7, and like you said , you don't want to do any harm to your truck, so don't go splicing it in. You ought to open it up and see if there's anything inside it other than a potentiometer.

I am not promoting any specific tuner and program but I do have one.
There are custom tunes to the specific truck and there are canned tunes used universally on the same makes and engines.
The custom tunes tend to get the most performance.
A tuner with the ability to allow the owner to alter the spark, fuel and trans shifting is also availably and can be called custom tuning within safe limits. These tend to be a bit better for dialing in in cases where there is ping or some other deficiency in the standard supplied program and application.
Reasons are, the same engine is used in a lot of different weight classes, gear ratios and applications.
The owner should have a little understanding of what the program changes do and not just try to go max and hurt the engine from to much timing or to little fuel, bang or overwind the engine/ trans to hard etc.
There is only so much improvement that can be obtained from a stock engine..
