Just got back from my trip. Wish I could say it was under my own power. Had to leave the trailer and get towed the last 60 miles. Climbing a hill and everything felt and sounded fine until I reached the top and leveled out. The boost started to drop and I was losing power fast when I got to the next off ramp I was only going 10 MPH then it just died. I let it cool down waiting for back up. After cooling for a while I Re started it and had enough to get off the freeway. After I got towed in I started it and almost seemed to run fine for a few seconds. I’m thinking head gasket. What can you guys tell me about this? I have a 2003 F-350 with a 6.0, exhaust, and an air cleaner.
All the gauges looked fine & no engine lights ever came on. When i restarted it the first time the temp was a little higher than normal. What are you thinking the whole motor?

Nah-- theres been issues with the fitting on the high pressure oil pump blowing apart causing power loss when warm.Your oil pressure gauge will show if oil is available to the hpop to run the injectors.
More to the story ( maybe non-related ). Last week the truck was in the shop twice for water leaks. My thinking behind a blown head gasket was maybe compresion has been leaking into the coolant causing it to leak under the addeed presure.
This is VERY VERY interesting...........Beginning to sound a LOT like what happened to my truck after I took it in for an oil and fuel filters change.....
High pressure pump and #7 injector were out of commission.......
At least thats the word I have right now...........I have to wait till I get home to get the full scoop. My wife had the brains to have them photocopy all the mechanics notes when he was working on my truck..........
Injectors #2 & #6 this time last time was #3 & #5 and the first time was #8. All in the last 8 months. Injector #4 is the only one left on this cylinder bank thats not new. Would you guys replace it now while it's in the shop?
I was reading this thread and I had the same problem this past weekend pulling my camper. I had lost power and then no start when warm. I was wondering about the answer giving about the high pressure pump problem. Whenb I crank engine the oil pressure guage doesn't move until the motor starts. Should it be reading pressure during crank cycle? I also have had injectors changed two at a time. Wonder why they just don't bite the bullet and do them all?

How long did it take for these injectors to go south? I'm wondering because I'm betting that mine are about to do the same thing...........
