Cats or no Cats

I am thinking about getting rid of my cats completely. Emissions really aren't of any concern. My questions is this: Will my o2 sensor still work properly? This is on an 88 351W. I have read many threads where people say they have ditched their cats. Haven't seen any that say it's a problem. What if I just rod the cats out and leave them there? Will my o2 sensor work properly like that? It would look better if I were to be inspected by the man. Ideally if it would work, i would just run true duals, no cats, Some sort of equalizer pipe, and a couple of good mufflers, and turndowns behind the mufflers. Suggestions and feedback is appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

Your O2sensors would work fine.

so long as you dont have the OBD2 system, where cat monitor sensors are installed,No cat means NO PROBLEMS.
I removed my cats off my 93 ranger this weekend and put 2.5 piping with a Flowmaster 2 chamber, its comes out before the tire too.
Dude,It sounds mean, revs up a lot easier and gets much better pickup than before.
Did I say it sounds mean?sounds like a cobra.

Thanks for the info. I have a friend who drives a chevy and he said that after removing his cats, his truck runs rich at idle, but smooths out at around 3000 rom and runs fine. I just don't want to have the same problem as him.

well, your 88 doesnt have cat monitor sensors.
So removing your cats wont cause a problem.
You might smell unburned fuel, but its not because its running richer, its just that as you know, the purpose of the cats is to burn any unburned fuel left in the exhaust.and with no cats, the unburned fuel will just go out the tail pipe.
