Question Looking for parts can be A pain

I have A problem getting parts from my local parts stores. I need A gasket for my rear Diff cover plate for an 88 BII and A throwout Barren for an 86 fm145 standard trany. NAPA or VIP connot get the gasket and the barren only comes with the clutch kits. Last year I put in an 86 FM145 trany and had to buy A new clutch kit for the switch from an auto tranny, but I orderd A kit for An 88 and the 88 had a diferant barren than the 86. So I used the old Barren which I repacked and assumed it would last until I can rebuild the Truck, But it is making some nasty noises and I need to replace it now. Also, any recomendations on how I can make or repair the diff cover gasket.... Oh and will 86 2.9 heads work with an 88 2.9???

the heads will work..

rear diff gasket you'll need one for a 7.5 rear ..unless it was changed out to a 8.8 by someone else..
I get all my parts here in Maryland at Advance Auto.

Advance Auto, Parts America and Auto Zone are all the same people.

that person with the F100 4x4..is that a Dana 44 in the front? Sometimes it's easier to get parts for axles knowing what one you have in it when the age of the truck is that old. The dana 44 is a common axle found in any solid axle ford truck like the F150. $275 for just a axle shaft?? that's crazy..you can get the whole axle from a junkyard cheaper then that.

The diff cover gasket is hard to come by because the manuals specify to simply use RTV silicone. There is no OEM gasket specified. You might eventually find someone who carries a gasket, but you'll probably be farther ahead to just get a good tube of RTV.

Napaonline and partsamerica both claim to be able to get just the throwout bearing (aka release bearing) for that. autozone might be able to as well.

Advance Auto and Autozone are two completely different companies and Parts America is shared by Advance and Checker Auto.

The diff cover gasket p# for felpro is RDS55393 - $5

The release Bearing (throwout) ranges from $20 - $50 depending on quality and is easily available too.

Dana 44 ...if you need parts or the whole front axle try posting on a 4x4 Forum..these guys have tons of stuff from doing mods on their trucks..
Two parks here on the east coast you can go to and post are

I used to have 44 parts laying around my shop before i closed it last year and sold off everything.
