I have a 87 F150 351W will this engine bolt into a 93 Ford F150? Will the mazda 4 spd with overdrive out of the 93 bolt up to the 87 351 windsor? Any help or advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Kevin
It is a 4.9. The engine is leaking oil from the rear main, I think. It is my friends so I really am not sure. I have a rebuilt 351W which I put new main bearing, heads redone, timing chain & gears sitting in my garage. His is FI and Mine is one of the last carbed. Here in lies the problem of wiring it back up. I might just loan him a car and rebuild his 4.9, but sometime motivation is lacking. Just trying to help him out.
With the engine out replacing the rear main is pretty easy... and if that's all that's wrong with it then it'll be a pretty quick turn around too. You'll need the 351 engine mounts, flywheel, ignition system, and low pressure fuel pump to make it work, so you are into a bunch more parts and fabrication for that swap.
Thanks Guys. I am just going to pull the 4.9 and find out where it is leaking. I would rather just loan him my truck for a week and have him help me fix the original engine. It seems like a lot less headache and work. I don't want to waste too much time. I am in the process of rebuilding a 8RT flathead for my 51 F-6 anyway.
