I would call a moving company and then drive the two vehicles. It would make your life a lot easier, trust me i know I work for a moving company my dad owns.

Or, hire the movers and pull your truck with the X.
I wouldnt worry too much about towing in the snow. Your rigs are heavy enough to handle it fine, I do it occasionally with my 250 SD. One good thing about the Co. DOT, is that at any sign of a snow flake, they hit the hyw with the plows. We havent seen much of the white stuff yet anyways, at least hear on the Western Slope.
As far as siping, great idea! Some of the best tires I have driven in the snow and ice were siped. Plus, they say you get longer life out of them cause they run cooler.

Best wishes with the move,

Thanks Rick. Just the kind of info I was looking for. Im gonna get both sets of tires sipped.
We are really on a budget, we are moving on my last pay check from work. We wont have the profit from our home sale for up to several weeks, it took two weeks for funds to be available when we refinanced. So My check has to cover the trailer rental and gas/lodging while on the road. A moving company just seems like over kill. All that we are taking are 5 beds, TVs, computers, some end tables, and a small entertainment center, washer and drier, the rest is boxes of clothes and such.
Boxes of clothes? How big? Maybe think about UPSing or Fedexing that stuff and maybe cut back to one trailer? You can FedEx a lot of stuff (via ground of course), for $400.
So here is what I did. I ordered a POD today, it will be here tomorrow. I only had to pay the delivery and storage fee for the first month to get it delivered, $400. The rest will get billed when they ship it for me. So that worked out really well. I just couldnt bare the thought of my wife towing (for the first time) and driving in the snow (for the first time).
