hey guys i have a 1993 f-250 7.3 diesel. its a 4x4 strait cab pickup truck 5speed menual tranny. I have a cobra classic cb and also a Uniden Bearcat scanner. My question is where can i mount these at in my truck? I was thinking about mounting the CB to the roof above the rearview mirror. Only thing i dont like about that is i would ruin my headliner in the truck if i ran screws up threw it. (any sugestions on how to get around that and mount it to the roof and still keep my headliner?) I also was thinkign about mounting my scanner to the passengerside of the gear shifter. What do you guys think? anyone else running CBs and scanners in there trucks? If so please let me know where you guys mounted yours.
thanks,
Jimmy
We mounted a friends Connex in the same spot that you are talking about .The way we did it was run a 1x2 in between the sun visor clips ( pull the clips and use a longer screw that will hold the clip and go throught the wood back to the stock location) . I have also used this method on everything from rangers to cheroke's . We always just painted the wood black but you could stain it . When I mounted my Galaxy in the cheroke I mounted a uniden scanner below it using some long thick zip ties ( like they use in AC duck systems . If you have any questions just hit me up in a PM
thank you very very very much! Maybe i will get some thicker sheetmetal and do the same method with it and then just use some very short bolts and nuts. then i got some interior paint that matches my truck interior and paint it with that color then mount my CB up there.
thanks you very much once again,
Jimmy
