I would recommend the BigSert kit from http://www.timesert.com. My dad (rest his soul) was extremely impressed with the kit. We used a shop vac (it was recommended in the instructions) to vacuum out the shavings in the cylinder. Cost was I think $3-400. Worth it.

I am an engine rebuilder by trade 29 years now. I have had customers with this problem several times. I have made my own tooling to install an insert that is made from steel with a locking ring on the top and 100% thread contact. The tool can be used without removing the head and I have had on come backs at all. If you need help with this let me know. Rick
