Shifter help 91 F150

Hi
I believe I have the Mazda 5 speed transmission. When I pulled my transmission I took off the whole shifter assembly. The three small star screws that hold the shifter on. I can get the shifter down in the trans but it will not shift only move in the neutral position. What gives, do I not have something lined up right down in there??

did you pull the shifter and shifter plate off the top of the tranny ? or how did you remove them? If you didnt remove the plate on the top of the tranny that does seem odd
