My truck has a set of stock steel wheels on it and my tires are shot.
I picked up a set of MTRs with about 50% tread on them for $100, now I want a better looking set of wheels to mount them on.
Anybody in the area got any they want to sell?
I'll consider styled steel wheels, factory mags, aftermarket steel, or even aftermarket mags. Just about anything would look better than the plain Jane stock steel wheels that are on it.....
I think you just missed all the swap meets. I finally gave up and went to discount tire and got my wheels years ago. I'm probably still paying for them, plastic.
There was [is] a post about Mods, first of many?? or something like that, [ I don't know if you saw it] in last couple of weeks has a pic of his new wheels, they look really sharp.
I considered fancy wheels for mine, but I never found any strong enough to handle my loads.
If you do look at aftermarket wheels, check what kind of load the are rated at.
The only aluminum wheels that are rated as strong as the stock wheels are from Alcoa, that is pronounced "Expensive".
You have to go to the manufacturers page or look in the spec book the sellers have.
I have seen aluminum wheels with weight ratings under 2000 pounds each.
Not something I would want to run on my truck.
On edit I miss read your post, my tank does not have aluminum wheels on it either.
For what it is worth, most of the aftermarket steel wheels are in the 2500 to 3000 pound range.
A while back I was looking at the big tires and wheels, 20", 22" and 24". I was really surprised to see huge tire ratings with very low wheel ratings paired up.
What is the use to have a 5000 pound rated tire on a 2500 pound rated wheel?

Standard steel 8-spoke "Wagon wheels" - $60 for the set including center caps & lug nuts.
Dunno' what the weight rating is on them, but the steel appeared to be comparable thickness to the original stock wheels. I'll not be hauling 20k lbs. like Dave so they should do. Heaviest thing I'll ever haul is my camper - 2K at most - plus the tongue weight of my Jeep on a tow dolly - maybe another 500 lbs.
