fuel switch

I have 1990 F150 and the fuel reads fine when the fuel switch is on the rear tank, but doesnt read at all on the front tank, just goes to empty, but it runs fine cause i know that there is gas in the tank. Any answers would greatly be appreciated. Thanks

bad sending unit, also check and make sure the sending unit is grounded, the wire could have just come undone and that would cause the sending unit to not work properly
