I installed a trailer brake control under the dash on 1998 f150 all the connections are there but I can't find the other connections on the rear of the truck.
drop the spare tire and look for an electric plug about an inch square inside the drivers frame rail. there will be a bunch of wires running into it, and maybe only tail light wires running out. if you are missing several wires running out of the connector, you can be a new rear harness with the spare wires to the trailer plug, or you can buy a trailer plug and cut and solder yourself, if you know what your doing. i have seen these harnesses on e-bay.
Hehe they are there, you just have to find them like Steve said. I wouldn't bother buying a replacement Ford part (that ain't gonna be cheap) but its better than accidently screwing up something, hehe.
Hey guys, thanks! I dropped the tire and there they were the power feed and the brake cable. There is one more problem I have a four way flat and I am upgrading to the 7 way but the left and right wires aren't working I tested all the fuses but no luck. Will it be any overload if I hook these wires directly to the left and right turn signals in the harness?
look at the fuse box under the dash above the steering wheel. the operators manual with the truck says which fuses are for the TURN, BRAKE, and FLASH, there are more than 1 fues, and they are not the same as the truck light fuses. You could use the truck wire, but i think if there was a problem with the trailer, FORD tried to isolate it from effecting the truck lights. Look again at the fuses, i have had one bad before. I also had the 4 prong and went to the 7. I cut the brake and power wires off of the plug above tire, and put a BIG two prong plug around it and made my own rear harness.
