King Ranch

Drove a new King Ranch 07' and was impressed very much. The sticker ($42,500) was high because it was loaded up with options. I think Ford really pulled a boner though with NO factory equipped remote start. I believe GM charges $125 for this factory option which is well worth it. The trucks interior was second to none. Ford does indeed build great trucks.

Remote start is standard on most GMs now.

Talking

That's why I put my KR in the garage. I do not trust that option. Too many variables.

I wouldn't think there would be a ton of people who desire or have the conditions where remote start would be a huge advantage. As for being " loaded with options ".... isn't that the point of the King Ranch ? Well, I suspect Ford needs to err on the side of the most desired options...yet keep the price in check by not including EVERY option that was ever created ? I have two KR's...one F-250 and an '07 F-150. They " threw in " the satelite radio....and I must admit....I'm in love.

Have a 06 King Ranch and had the Ford dealer put in a remote start/Alarm system for $350. Works great. Your right that it should come standard with the truck after spending $45,000.

My whole "take" on such useful/popular options as remote start is that when one auto mfg offers it the others are too stubborn/egotistical to "give in" and do the same. Their egos will NOT allow them to accept the fact they were "outdone." Fords keypunch entry drivers side device is a great idea. So is GM's phone system via its Onstar program. Remote start is a great idea especially in the areas where winters are cold. Instead of giving kudos to their competitors and then ADOPTING these great ideas they take the hard *** approach. Maybe some of these listed can't be offered due to patent infringement but not all I'm sure are under that umbrella.

Onstar is a great option but, the none stop telemarketing and mailers about renewal and the service is down right annoying

The one time they called me on the system to see about renewal, she was explaining to me how much more reliable the system was over a cell phone becuase I told them I wasn't interested because I would rather spend the money on a cell. About half way through her pitch the call dropped, my cell still had service though.
