Instrument cluster change
I was wondering if there would be anyone nice enought to give me a helping hand? I have a 2001 XL F150. I want to put in a cluster panel with the factory tach. I have a factory panel from a 2003 XLT F150. I know they will both interchange physically, but what about the electronics? I see that the wiring harness is the same and the pins are the same. Am I going to have to have this reprogramed? I have done some searches and reading, isn't the PATS in the key switch and computer and not the cluster panel, except for the theft light. any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome to the forum 
The PCM and IC have to be programmed to talk to each other.
You'll need to have your dealer reprogram the IC.
To save a tow bill you may want to have the IC ready to remove and then drive to your dealer. Have them download the info from it then plug in the new one and upload it.
