emergency brake I would start at the bottom
have some fun
There is another type **** that has a small slot at the base, usually on the underside of the ****. My 65 wiper, and heater ***** are of this type. The cable shaft has a flat spot that insert into a corresponding metal clip in the ****. In order to remove the ****, need to release the tention by placing a mini screw driver, or something simular, does not take much to split the slot if not carefull, nothing too large. If able to look under there you will notice metal ring/clip and if apply small amount of pressure, if recall, towards the ****, it will slide off.
On my 65, there is a ball on the end of the brake cable that is routed to the brake handle assemble and inserts into a corresponding slot in the handle lever. The ball can be only be inserted when the handle and the groove are lined up. The pin is then inserted to prevent the handle from reaching the position where the ball can come out. It is a knurled type pin at the base of the brake assembly and can be difficult to pull out. Use caution, they can break off.
Also, if not familiar with ign. switch assembly and need to remove, place key in ign. turn to accessory position, insert paper clip in small hole and continue to turn key counter clockwise.
For info purposes, you will find on many of the electrical connectors have pins that can be remove in event need to remove, or replace harness. The turn signal harness comes to mind, I prefer removing the pins from connector then pull the harness thru the column rather than cut and later splicing. Welcome again.
