clearcoat problem

clearcoat problem
Just wondering if anybody has had any problems with the clearcoat on their trucks. Mine is an early 99 and the other day I had a square foot section of the clearcoat seperate. It is only happening on my hood, and its coming loose in several places. Just wondering if this is something odd ball or if other have had this happen.

Does it look like there is still clear coat under the clear thats lifting off?
Your hood may have been spoted at the factory, small area of paint along with a complete clear coat on the entire hood?

Mine (2004) is beat up pretty good in a few spots (shopping carts and I need to park closer than door width to my house) to the point of slight discoloration in those spots, and I have no peeling at all. My area is pretty acetic (rain & ground water), and I believe the agent to remove acrylics like clear coat is ammonia, which is a base. Could that make a difference?

i have a 1994.. like a dark greenish color..

Truck is maroon, and now it has little spots all over the hood starting to seperate. Just not looking forward to the 400 to have it repainted. And it don't look like a layer coming off, just the whole coat.

I have a 99 ford zx2 that the hood cracked and peeled. Come to find out it was all the cars that were built in mexico that they were having the problem with. See if you can contact someone at ford to find out warrenty coverage. MIne was painted for free. Sorry but i dont have the contact # anymore.
