T-case
Can anyone tell me what the tests are for the push button shift 4x4? I need to find out what my problem is. i.e the dash switch, shift motor, etc.. The dash light does not come on and it is not shifting into 4 wheel drive. When I press the button I hear a faint click from the passenger dash or seat area, but nothing happens.

I have that problem sometimes with my bronco and there is an electronic shift solenoid on the backside of the T-Case towards the top that sticks. For my year model a replacement can be purchased for around 100 dollars. I found this out by tapping on the solenoid while having a second person engaging four wheel drive.

The click is the relay on the board behind the passenger kick panel. Like tonytort said, if the shift motor on the back of the t-case goes then the board just trips and resets itself after.
