So i am starting to think that my rear brakes aren't working. When i apply my brakes it slides like all the weight is on the discs in the front. My abs light and emergency lights have been on for a week or two on and off. Any suggestions on trouble shooting the problem. The whole assmbely was replaced about 1 1/2 yr ago.
The rear brakes are self adjusting. Try finding a quiet chunk of road or parking lot. Then go backwards at least 10 mph then hit the brakes - as the drums swing they will adjust. Do the start and stop in reverse 5 or 6 times then try going forwards. If that doesn't work - they may be too loose and need manual adjustment. Or the proportioning valve may be shot.
The ABS light on my 89 comes and goes like the weather. I haven't noticed any difference when its on to when its off.
