Well I Ended up getting a hell of a deal on an Industrial Air: I got a 5HP, 22.6amp, 80 Gallon, magnetic starter, all cast Iron, 230V, single phase, dual V belt drive, 740Rpm working, on switch at 145psi and off at 175psi. I paid a whopping $850 which is $327 less then list. It comes in handy having a very good friedn work for a large tool distributer. He was adiment that this will be a better and quiter machine then the IR that I was looking at and at $700 cheaper then the Eaton I couldn't pass it up.
The ones I have seen didn't. That's not what I gather from their site either.
Did they specifically say "Made in USA" on them? I don't know if their model line is split, but I know someone who has one and he called the company regarding the pump...they told him it was made in China.
Much of the noise compressors make comes from the air intake. If you enlarge and put a couple bends in the intake pipe it helps.
Especially if you put enlarge the pipe then run it into the attic or the garage. Makes a huge difference in noise. It also keeps the compressor from sucking in any nasty fumes while running.
The IG 80 Gallon is an excelent compressor. Also you may want to consider a Patton Compressor. www.pattonsinc.com They also have a very nice air piping system.
Those aluminum tube systems are nice but high dollar! Modifications can be very expensive or even unavailable in the future. Steel pipe will be available 50-100 years from now.
i'm cheap and just bought a freight harbor 60 gal, 14.5 cfm @ 90 and 16+cfm @40 for 290 bucks. 6hp 130psi.
I will pick out a better pump and motor to swap out at my leisure. The things don't always have to be 'rebuildable'. For now i have a mini beast to put in the corner and I am pleased.
Well, I've now had it hooked up for a while and so far I'm very pleased with my purchace. I do agree though that most of the noise comes from the intake and I will be adding some piping and a larger filter. I also added a 90* bend where the petcock goes and then added a 8" nipple and a ball valve for draining out the water, it sure beats the ol screw in and out pet ***** that are always way under and out of reach.
