Warning Buzzer
Does anyone know where I can find the Warning Buzzer that comes on when you start your truck? It's for a 1979 F-150. I know most people look at me strange because I want it in the vehicle. I've looked for it everywhere but i can't seem to find it offered new. I don't want a scrap yard one.

You are talking about the seatbelt reminder buzzer right? Wal-Mart used to sell a headlight on buzzer, if this is what you're wanting. I think they still carry them. Don't know where you might find a seatbelt buzzer though.

If it came with a buzzer it's probably still there. Is there a wire and plug on the seatbelt buckle? Make sure it's plugged in.
The buzzer in my '83 is behind the glovebox liner. You might look for something unplugged in that area. It might also be near the fuse box. In the first years of the seatbelt buzzer they were very easy to defeat by just unplugging the buzzer. (The easiest way to keep it from buzzing is bucking up before you start.)

The buzzer is located on the driver's side behind the instrument panel on the left wall. It is possible that the unit has just been disconnected at the buzzer. It is a box about two inches square. The gauge cluster will have to be removed to easily get at the box and the connection.

The buzzer in the truck works intermittently about once a month or so for a day or two then quits. I do know where it is located. 79 & Older trucks didn't have headlight buzzers only seatbelt warnings. Yes I know I am strange to want it working.

yes its under the seat if carpet is over it you might have a problem im not sure, but I unplugged mine only because mine didnt go off....and if you say it works for a little bit then it is a bad box fuse or a short in the wire, check all the places that you were told, I'll try and get some pictures for you later that I have of all the wiring for it if I can find them...

For the rest of you who replied, I suppose I didn't give enough info. I am A Professional mechanic I know how to check wiring harnesses, shorts, voltage drop tests and continuity tests.
In fact I have completley ripped out the whole truck harness and re-wrapped it with cloth vinyl tape inside and weatherproof outside while making many repairs to the hack job the previous owner made to it.
I was just looking for suggestions as to where to find the buzzer box as I know that is what is in need of replacement.

Some time ago I posted on here looking for the color codes for the wiring to the buzzer/relay plug so I could make the seat belt light functional. I didn't care about the buzzer, but like you, couldn't find the relay aftermarket either.
If it turns out your relay is bad, and you can't find one, write me. I am an electronics engineer by day, and I fabbed a TD relay in there to mate with the existing harness connector and make the light light for 10 secs or so after turning the ignition on. If you would like, PM me and I will tell you in detail what I did.

Mine was unplugged when I got my truck. I plugged it back in and the buzzer works and turns off when I secure the seatbelt, however the Fasten belts light stays on even if I buckle all three belts. Any clues of how to fix this?

Obviously you already have this located, & trouble shot, I do not know where to get a new one, I just thought I would through the above info in so other people reading this thread could use it,
A little more info about this circut for other people to know is there are 4 wires going to the box, Black is ground, green is keyed power in the run position, pink is timed power to the light in the dash, & brown with a blue tracer is grounded when the seat belt is not buckled, this ground is actually what turns the buzzer on,
P.S. have you checked with your local auto parts store? I know my local napa store is real good about having these older parts, I know napa is known for their poor quality with electrical parts, but I've had decent luck with them,

There is a seat belt warning buzzer available for your 1979 Ford at http://www.autopartsgiant.com. Fill in the blocks that request your year, make, and model and then tab to "Electrical, Sensor, Seat Belt Warning." The part is Motorcraft part number SW-1387 and is about $10.00 on the website. It also shows a picture of the part number. I realize autopartsgiant is not a sponsor, but that is the only place I could find one.
