I have an 02 Ranger SC, 4x4, 4.0L. Does anyone know the *correct* drop I should get. I thought I remember seeing a formula to calculate your proper drop, but I wasn't sure. What I'll be towing the most is my family's johnboat a mile or two each way from the house down to the river. Obviously not serious towning needs, so whatever drop I get will probably be fine. I just figured if I could get the right one with a little bit of work I might as well.
Also, to calculate the correct drop, I need to know the height of the trailer. I don't, and I won't be able to any time soon. So...what drops do you have? Should I just get a *standard* 2" drop? Since I'm not doing any real towing is one of the adjustable drops worth it?
Thanks
i just hook the trailor up and jack it down and judge if its level. then if i need to be higher i turn the slide in hitch upside down (i have to do this on my ranger cause i frequently pull heavy stuff)
I won't be by the trailer for a couple of weeks to test. When I'm there, I'm going to need to use the hitch and there's no store nearby.
I did find some stuff online and it seems most trailers recommend a hitch height between 16-18" from the ground. I guess I'll measure the height of my reciever and subtract 17 or 18. I figured I would go on the high side since the truck should sag a little bit bringing the truck down some.
