More X-Plan questions?????

It seems to me that $210 over invoice seems fair and reasonable. I have read several strings that claim that ordering from a good dealer can get you as good a price as the X-plan. I just ordered a 02 PSD Crew 4x2 XLT for 32312. Dealer invoice is 32012. $300 over invoice before rebates.

Sounds pretty good to me (except the gasser)

More X-Plan questions?????

From what I heard, the actual dealer cost is substantually lower than the "invoice" price that you get from Ford & Edmunds, etc.

It is my understanding that the X plan is 4% above dealer cost.

More X-Plan questions?????

x-plan is 4% above A-plan price, which is 6% below invoice. So...to figure it out you take invoice $33536 x 0.94 (A-plan) x 1.04 (X-plan) = $32785. Then they add the dealer advertising fee ~ $230 and the delivery fee ~ $730 = $33745 (approx). Looks about right to me. they kill ya with the delivery and advertising cost add-ons.

More X-Plan questions?????

I think I figured out what they actually do:

Total MSRP (incl Destination)
multiply by .87823217043

If you subtract an additional 4%, you should get the A-Plan $$.

I can't come up with a formula as it pertains to 'invoice'.

Just thought I'd say that if you really want, you can tell the dealer that if they want your business then they might as well knock off the delivery and advertising fees because you aren't going to pay it. I've never seen a dealership refuse to drop it yet. Also, if you're really good you'll find out the blue book value on the vehicle and offer them $2,500 less than that. In actuality can go lower if you want. Figure for every $10,000 the truck is worth you knock off $2,500. So if its a $30,000 truck, right away, knock off $7,500. Most dealerships will grumble at that but they will accept it. And to really have fun, one last step. Pick your offer. Back to that $30,000 truck that you just knocked the $7,500 off of. So its now $22,500, and thats the price you wanna pay. A dealership wants you to be a happy customer, so now its time to tell them that that is your final price on it. That includes, tax, license, everything. But if you want extra goodies added, then it'll be a little tougher. But it can be done. I know the local dealership here likes to try getting you to pay higher prices cause they give you certificates for Honda generators and stuff like that for free. Funny thing is that their deal is that you buy any new vehicle on their lot (doesn't matter the end cost) you're getting a free Honda certificate. And they aren't $50 off. Its a free generator or lawnmower so its all good. Hope this helps you guys out some and have fun with your next purchase. Goodluck.

More X-Plan questions?????

Yes, I agree with the others......ur price is pretty close. I purchased a '02 4x2 F350 V-10 in Aug. They couldn't give me a dealer invoice price for the 02's at that time but guaranteed the price to be between 2 & 3 hundred $. They were good at their word, but there were no xtra add-on's. Advertising, dealer prep, etc. Part of the X-plan agreement as I understand it, is that plan member do not pay any of the dealer supplimental costs. Straight 4% abov dealer list, that's it!
