Just finished this nice silver tool on which the engine is hanging. It is a "engine load leveler". By turning the crank I can tilt the engine. With the tranny mounted I will tilt the back of the tranny down, lower it into the engine compartment and the tilt the whole assembly to level. Cool. Made it from scrap metal, just had to buy that shaft (which is M18 = 18mm) and a few M18 nuts. Total investment $20. ... but also a few hours.
nice pic and good job... I hate you !!!
you're soooo close I bet you can taste it.. the truck looks great and that blue block makes my mouth water... now stop playing around and post the plans for the engine leveler... I want to build one.. seriously it would make a great tech article and I'm sure a lot of us would take advantage of the plan... hurry up...
Merry Christmas
john
:-X12 BTW be sure and take the engine stand plate off the block... it positivily will not mount to your transmission

He's going to take it off after he knocks out his windshield. He'll be back here asking how hot you have to get sand so you can make your own glass, all necessary due to high shipping costs of a new shield.

... Dewayne, just knocked the windshield out. So how hot do I have to get the sand ?
You guys are so funny. I love it.
After carefully examining your picture I realized you have to turn the engine so the crankshaft runs front-to-back for these old trucks. I know all the engines in vehicles you've driven recently are mounted side-to-side (transverse) but, trust me, that's a new-fangled invension. If you put the engine in your truck transverse you'll only have one gear and no steering.
not to fear...broken windshields are no problem... go to marthaStewart.com... she makes all her own glass... it's a good thing !!
just click on the "Martha's home glass making kit... and enter your Visa number... It's only 695.50 plus S&H... which to Germany would total 1345.45. But still cheaper than shipping a windshield from the states...
Glad you're not George... he'd want to start with a stone and make his own sand... got to stay original... don't want no aftermarket or custom sand ..

I need a icon with a santa hat AND sunglasses... to show my coolness...
on the engine tilter... did you use bearings on each end of the screw ?? I for one would love the sketch.. if you want to do up a plan I can post it on my site for others if you like...

Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
You know, I'll bet with the time you've spent building tools you could have finished your truck by now. See what happens when you start hanging out with george and john?
If you'd follow my example you'd just use log chain and a crowbar. It gets you on the road a whole lot quicker. Who needs finesse' anyway?
Seriously, it's looking very good, including the tools, and you'll be tooling down the highway before you know it. Merry Christmas to you all!
Is there a FWD conversion for the F100s ?... John, I guess I will do the drawing of my tool over the X-Mas days (of which we have 2 1/2 over here). :-X12
... Fordgo, these yellow headlights are pretty odd, eeh ?!?!
I think they were made in France. I think it is low and high beam in white and then there's a separate reflector for fog lights all in one housing. Unfortunately the reflectors are pretty blind and these type of lights are kinda illegal, too. I just had them and mounted them to make it look better for now. I will buy a regular set of headlights these days.... Gwillkrrs, it just looks close to be complete. Unfortunately I am far away.
... mtflat, I love tools. I know there's often a way without it, but it sure is more fun with the right tools. I have spend a fortune on tools and keep on buying (or sometimes making).
Thanx for all the responses. :-) :-) :-)
X-Mas Greetings from Germany !!!
