just recently I was driving when the CEL came on briefly then went out, noticed nothing different but plugged in the scanner and pulled a camshaft position sensor signal irratic if I recall, so with out a doubt I got to change out my CPS.
So with the part numbers I'm looking at, bearing in mind I have not got the engine number yet to identify which one of the 2 sensors I have thier is also a CPS for a 466 diesil part #1807339c92, which they say advances the timing with a stonger signal that I read on the sheet of part numbers I saved a few weeks back. Is anyone running this CPS with a notible improvment. If its a couple bucks more I'll pick it up providing its worth it or should I just go with the norm.
Is it the one from International? I think it is a different color, blue maybe? If so, do a search. There was a thread about this a few months ago. Some used it and some said no.

yes, it is an international part number. my mistake for not including that info, I'm not sure what color it is, I'll try to get around to do a search later on in the day.
I bought my CPS (black) today, from my local IH supplier. Paid $106 for it. I must admit, I talked them into an additional discount, otherwise it would have cost more.
The part number for the black CPS is 1825899. This one is for an 8-cylinder engine. The blue CPS, #1807339C93, that was listed in another thread, is for an inline 6-cylinder engine.
According to the parts-counter staff, if you have an 8-cylinder, you need the black CPS, not the blue one. Those guys are great. I'm sure they've heard all the dumb questions from diesel-newbies like me, but they answered my questions like it was the first time they were asked.
