Mods without guages?

I have been here a couple weeks now absorbing as much information as I can. I've been extremely happy with my '02 F350 CC 4X4 Dually, almost 60K miles now. I haul a 12' 3,900lb (dry) camper and a 3,800 boat. The truck has performed to every task I have asked of it from pulling the boat through the sand down to the lake to getting the family to the ski slopes. I don't have the money for guages right now and I am wondering what mods I might do that will not require monitoring EGT's. I plan on CCV and replacing my fuel tank connections right away. A cooler filter would be great and going to the 203 thermostat looks like a good idea. What about the HPOP crossover? The Dieselsite hose looks like a good product for not much money, can I do that without guages? What about plugging the Air Intake Heater? Just looking to lengthen powertrain life as much as possible and maybe get a little more response. Hoping this is last truck I ever need. Thanks for the help!!

Hey I am in the same boat. but from what I have gotten out of my readings on this site or others.
is Gauges are pretty much a first along with Intake, and exhaust. I actually got exhaust first and AIS, and guages are on a box ready for me to pony up the Money for them. so good luck. I went with the Quadzilla cause its one screen for all readings needed for what I am doing. but that is me and I hope these mods work out for me. cause I have heard the Quadzilla can not be the BEST, but for what I need, it should work just fine.
Good luck

not to state the obvious but certainly any mod that reduces egt's (intake, exhaust etc) should be done 1st especially if you are already towing/loading your rig. i was so mad to see how easy my truck got up there when i first installed my guage. I would say no hp mods until you get the guages

None of the mods you have listed would require monitoring of the EGT's but even a stock 7.3, pulling a load up a long and steep grade will get pretty warm and you would be surprised if you had a pyro. It's something every diesel should have but the mfg's efforts on keeping costs down, has been eliminated.

If your looking for additional responsivness, none of the mods you mention will give you a noticible, seat of the pants, improvement. All of them will help prepare your engine for when you are ready to chip though...... then you really will need the guages!

Since most users of the hose type of hpx mod have reported leakage of the hose connections at some point (sooner or later) you may want to spend a little extra for the SS version from KCM Diesel rather that buying another hose down the road.

Other mods you could do would be to add additional bypass filtration... Engine oil, coolant and transmission (if auto).

Good luck and you may also seek advice from your Dr. about the condition you are developing (Emptywalletitis).

You can do all those mods without gauges, no problem.

If you do want gauges now or even later and don't want to spend a lot, start searching E-bay. I picked up gauges for cheap there.

The stock airbox is famous for leaking and not filtering well you might want to look into a 6637 (Kwikk) good filtration for around, what is it now, - 40 bucks - or the AIS system but it will run a good bit more
