starting problem
I just made a 1500 mile round trip with no problems. I got home and shut the bronco off. I took the bottle jack out from the passenger side fender to use it and put it back when I was done. Then I went to start the bronco and it won't turn over. I started it with a screwdriver on the solinoid. I just replaced the solnoid and the starter not too long ago. Any ideas? Also when I was gone on vacation I went mudding and my bronco is stock height and my engine compartment is covered in mud and I wasn't sure the best way to clean it up without messing up the electrical stuff. I cleaned the battery, alternator and coil up real good but thats it.

I checked all connections on solenoid, starter, and battery and no obvious loose connections. Got a new MLPS and put it on still won't start from inside the truck. Also my haynes manual says something about an MLPS adjusting tool but doesn't say how to adjust it. Now thaat I put the new one on it doesn't move very easily in forward gears but moves fine in reverse. Also I noticed a red wire with a black fuse holder going up to the solenoid on the fender but theres not a fuse inside.

That isn't a stock wire. Ford never put a fused wire near the selonoid. Maybe it's for an old alarm or something. Anyways if you can start it with a screwdriver then it could be the selonoid. Check and see if the wire connecting the selenoid has voltage on it when the key is turned to the start position. If it does then it's the selonoid. The selenoid isn't engaging. Don't think it has anything ot do with the MLPS if it starts with a screwdriver. from what I understand it won't start at all with a bad mlps. Maybe you got a weak selenoid? I would check the selenoid and associated wiring.
