Why not? Give a little more info. You can get a bad one from any car maker. I use to have all Bowtie Products but I will never own anything but ford products.

Wow! You know, I'm quick to trash someone or something when I've been wronged. I also try to keep it fair and laud someone or something when I've been done right. I have a '97 Lariat and love it. It's never given me any trouble other than normal wear and tear on a ten year old truck. Prior to this one I had a '94 XL. I can't fathom driving anything else.

Sorry to hear the negative comments Pkollar. Better luck on your next truck.

His only other post was a problem with the driver's side window https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/2...ml#post1764191
so I don't know why he is so upset.

Lol if your only problem was with the driver's side window thats not really a good reason to down ford products not trying to start an argument but like 1964 said any car maker can make a bad vehicle just depends so what other issues did you have to make you sell it...

Sounds like that fella was in the wrong place, this is a Ford Truck Enthusiast site. I for one am pretty enthusiastic about my fords, including my truck.

I'd really like to know why he's so upset. I wonder if it's an issue with the truck, or some corporate thing.

That is what I was wanting to know! Why come to a FORD site and down fords. I love my fords everything I own is a ford. He gives very little info. and curses fords. I really hope that a window is not what has him so upset. He would really hate the chevies I have owned! Never stoped working on the last chevy I had.

Hello,

This is my first post. About 2 months ago I bought a '97 F-150 XL. It had the "dreaded" 4.2L in it. But it also had 158,000. I bought it very cheap. And when I say cheap, I mean it.

The body is in excellent condition. Well about three weeks ago, the engine did the lock up. Yep, you guessed it, the lower intake gasket. I had notice from the beginning that the truck had a problem because of the white smoke upon start up. But I knew what I was getting myself into.

Well, to make a long story shorter, I am having a Jasper remanufactured engine installed. I cannot wait to get the truck back. Even after only driving it for 2 months, I miss it.

I can't complain. I bought a truck that had 158,000 on it. Which tells me that the "dreaded" 4.2L engine must not be as bad as sometimes it is made out to be.

But, like I said, I got the truck cheap and even with the reman engine, I am still under book value on my investment.

Welcome bdmada1996. You have come to the right place. You can get info. for anything you could need to do on your FORD. I also bought mine way under bluebook.
I grew up in chevrolet country and always had a chevy. Till I got tired of always working on them. My first ford was a 1966 one ton tow truck. Loved that truck. Now everything I own is a ford.

Again Welcome

Jason

Kinda strange that his complaint is about a 9-10 year old truck. When was the last time you saw a '97 Chevy or Dodge on the road?

Yeh, That's what I was talking about. Most of them spend more time in the shop than on the road. I would have thought if he had that many problems and knew about FTE he would have posted alot more that one post about a WINDOW!
