1997 f150 sprcab dvrs side window problems
I was wondering if anyone could help me out with a window problem ?
The drivers side window rolls down about six inches, then makes a awful clank noise, after removing the door panel, I've noticed that the crank assembly
that actually moves the door up and down has a couple teeth missing.
Thats where it makes the funny noise. This assembly is riveted to the inside
of the door cavity (for a better word) and looks like its connected to the lower track. Its obvious that the toothed assembly needs to be rpl'd, What I can't figure out #1 is this two different assemblies, or is the crank and the track connected ? #2 Would this be easy to rpl, on a scale from
1-10 ?, #3 or should someone experienced in this type of problem be the one to repair it ? I consider myself somewhat mechanically inclined, but somehow stuff has a way of happening when I mess something I'm not familiar with.
I would appreciate any insight into this dilemma.
Thanks for your time

Generally if the window regulator has a problem you are better off replacing the whole piece. You can probaly get a regulator from a wrecking yard.
It is all rivetted together but I've seen people use short 1/4" bolts to reassemble it and that works ok as long as you dont overtighten them or use bolts that are too long so they hit other parts.
