Web Site Update
very nice work on the site and update. informative and entertaining, it clearly demonstrates your multiple talents, while providing me with enough personal insight to the fact that i am not equipped for such a comprehensive restoration. your accounting and documentation is impressive... making me wonder why 'fenders was enlisted to do the count and amount in our engine, suspension and rear end thread. showing my wife pictures of your emergency brake, she, with that wifely combination of good sport and ennui, asked what occupation provided you with the automotive knowledge and financial resources to take on such a meticulous project. my best and only guess was "not a school teacher". very impressive. himmelberg

It may be because George is not as gullible as I am. Or perhaps John assigned the task to me because he recognizes that my wise **** abilities are top shelf. He knew I would distort the facts in the interest of entertainment. I believe everyone was born with a special talent and I try to use mine.

I have learned two things with respect to technical work - time, thought, and discussion are the best, and often only, solutions to most technical problems. Knowledge comes from research and from discussions with friends like those I have here on FTE.
I am not so naive as to consider Earl the finest example of truck restoration available. I have, however, had a great deal of fun and I take some little pride in the project. Those two things, in the end, are the rewards most of us are seeking through our trucks. I wish both these rewards to everyone taking care of one of these great vehicles. :-)

While he may or may not be the finest, it is the finest example of an FTE'r guy sharing his project with the workd. Everything you do to Earl is done to the best of your ability with the best available research. Many of the restored trucks out there are merely a collection of reproduction parts. Where possible, you fix what you already have. More than once you have posted a PIC of something I thought should be thrown in the dumpster. Then a little while later I seen a PIC of a component that looks nearly new and correct as possible. It's neat to see parts truly restored instead of replaced.
Guys like John and myself may have little interest in a correct resto. In spite of all the grief we give you, Earl's World is extremely interesting to me. Thanks for taking the time to document so carefully.

even a cool guy like me has to bow to the talent, inginuity and perserverance of George when he's in Earls World... but I do wonder sometimes... when Mrs. George hollers for George to cut the grass so she can find the dog.. does he say... "I'll get to it as soon as I find the proper factory shade of gray for my master cylinder".. Is he as meticulous with every thing as he is Earl... If so...I'd hate to live with him !!!
as for fenders qualifications for accounting... he hit the nail on the head.. his manual dexterity (he can count using both hands at once..does the high numbers that way) and his sharp wit and wisea** sense of humor make him uniquely qualified for the task... one of the best threads I've seen on this board since I joined...and I've seen a lot of posts... excellent job DeWayne... your accounting abilities rival George's restoration abilities and we all know that is SAYING A LOT .
the only other one who even comes close is Kai...he's doing everything lefthanded and from the wrong side of the ocean
Restore on George... and account on Fenders you are both eat up with cool.. my men...

Don't think we have forgotten about your site either. I found it before I found FTE. It has been a great source of information. Us rodders love the way you do everything three times. Gives us a good feeling for the best way to go on everything. It allows me to get everything right on the second attempt. Saved me a ton of money. Thanks man.

whatever I can do to make your life easier.. extending your leisure time is my goal
Man, Kai is killing me... getting in all that good truck time and I haven't touched mine since before Thanksgiving... I'm having a hard time finding stuff to do over until I do something else new to it !!
BTW... thanks for the nice words about my site... I got a really nice note in my guest book yesterday... made me feel good...I'll send it to you in a private post... you can't see it in the guestbook without a password
later....be cool
