OK i feel like a moron but looking in the owners manual, I cant find which number fuse is the license/tag light. both my lights are out and figured check the fuse before i try anything else. its an 03 limited with a 6.0 PSD
Should be fuse #17, 15Amp, but that controls "exterior lamps". Check the bulbs, or see if there's a connector that's come undone.
Always check the bulbs first; they're cheap and easy to check unless you have huge hands like me. I'd get it done asap too, a state trooper pulled me over just for that. He must have been in a great mood becuase he let me off with a warning.
yeah, i just had the same problem. i tried to get the lenses out because i could not get my hands behind the hitch and wound up breaking the lights. oh well, cost me $16 for 2 new tag light housings and bulbs.
That trailer hitch does suck when your trying to remove the light bulb. I had my fair share of squizing my hand and bending my arm awkward (sp?) Those lens housing appers that you can pop them off with a flat head screwdriver but I learned the hardway.
ya theyre so brittle, i broke one today and am afraid to atempt the other tomorrow as i know im gonna have to go right back to ford to get the other housing LOL
If you spend the dime on a new housing, I would go ahead and buy some LED replacement bulbs. If you put the same bulbs in they will get just as hot and melt the darn things again. Stupid design by ford...
just priced a new wiring harness for the tag lights from ford----like 145 dollars. anyone recommend another idea. does discount or napa sell just the piece that holds the bulbs and i could wire it in to te stock wiring?
yes, you can go to your local parts store and just ask for a ford 194 bulb pigtail end. then just splice it in. very easy and cheap too. they are like $2.50 each...
