Hey guys... I need some quick help.... there is a CTS turbo kit for 6.9L/7.3L here locally used for $400 canadian... If this is a good deal I want to go look at/ pick it up soon...
Can anybody tell me anything about this kit, and is it worth $400 canadian used??
Not knoing all that much about turbos, is there anything I can look for to make sure this is not a big pile of poo??
About all I know is CTS was Canadian built and sold out west, they still are available sometimes. Do a quick check with a local turbo rebuilder in your area......or BC, AB.
I personally dont know much about cts systems, BUT I can tell you to make sure you get all the parts to make a complete system. Just the turbo is not going to cut it. You will need a mount for the turbo, oil line to the turbo, a drain system (probably part of the mount) exhaust connectors and down pipe (to the tail pipe) and intake system. Grab hold of the compressor or turbine wheel and see if spins freely and there is no in and out play to make it rub the housing. If it isnt all there, leave it there.
The pipes are prone to rust also. Mine needed to be patched quite a bit. Lots of little rust outs. Not the best performing turbo out there, but it helps.
