transmission question
My 82 F150 has the 300 i6 in it and the stock transmission. Going from 2nd to 3rd, there is a big loss of power like there should be another gear inbetween 2nd and 3rd. I have heard that was a normal complaint for those transmissions and was wondering if there is either anything that can be done to fix that or will I just need to replace it with another transmission? If I should replace it, what would be a good one to go with? Thanks much.

I have the same complaint, I have an 81 with the 300-6 and this trans, i don't use my truck to haul anything much more than maybe some firewood occasionally, no towing, so i just want a 5 speed with a decent overdrive gear for highway driving, can anyone recommend a trans that will mate with the 300?

i would assume any tranny that will bolt to a 302 351w should work on the in line 6. i know from doing the research in the past the in line 6 did not use a conter balance on the fly wheel. the 6 was internally balnced. other than that there should be no differents.
