Nissan's auto trans are JUNK also. I owned an 88 2wd Nissan it wasn't a bad truck. Then I bought a 90 4x4 Nissan it was the biggest piece of **** I ever owned. I wouldn't buy a NISSAN if they were $10,000 less than any other truck. A friend of mines brother just LEMON LAWED a 2004 Nissan because of nothing but troubles. NISSAN IS JUNK_JUNK_ JUNK. PERIOD

Yeah, diff issues and brake shudder were the main issues I was aware of... My dad used to own a Nissan (Patrol Cab-Chassis), it was one tough truck... He ended up putting a 6.5l turbo Chev diesel in it (with the stock drivetrain)
However it is a bit different in style to the Nissan trucks you guys see...

Tow ratings are one of the poorest ways there are to compare vehicles, as the marketing department seems to have a lot of influence due to "bragging rights". Tow ratings have no legal basis, like GVWR, except maybe in the warranty department. Examples abound, but here are two.
Honda Ridgeline, 5000lbs vs F-150 6-cylinder, something like 3000lbs (dont have owners manual in front of me).
Chevy C-1500 4.3/automatic/3.08, 4000lbs vs S-10 4.3/automatic/3.08, 5000lbs. Why? Because the GCWR is calculated for the powertrain only and the S-10 is about 1000lbs lighter to start with.
