I have an 03 6L and it is alittle sluggish til it warms up and from what I have been reading the injectors are a little sticky please tell me if I am wrong. Well my question is can you clean the injectors , has anyone tryed and does anyone have a detailed drawing or schematic for them to aid in doing so. Thanks for any info
no cleaning procedure that i know of. if you have high mileage or bad oil change intervals then cleaning wont help anyway. try plugging in the block heater. this usually gives them some more years.
What oil and intervals have you been following? Once the spool valve is showing signs of sticking the only way to clean them is physically pull the injector and tear them down....and it isn't easy or recommended.
I have only had the truck since june and changed it only once but currently running rotella 15w40 . It is starting to get cooler not cold yet but cooler and was thinking about changing it again to 10w30 for the winter.
You can only tear down the spool valve the tools needed for injector are not available. I removed mine, cleaned and soaked the injector tips in chem-a-dip from parts store (do not put plastic or rubber in dip or you will junk it. I used a pan and cut holes in a piece of cardboard to hold injectors upright) it clenaed them great but they went down quick after probably within 15k or so. If you were me I'd save my time and plug the truck in untill you have to install new ones.

Ford recommends using 10w-30 in the 6.0's year round, that's what I've been running in mine (motorcraft)
Ford told my friend that he was to run 10w-30 year round, here in Colorado. I haven't looked, but I've been told that it says so, the owners manual.
I posted this in another thread, Here is TSB 05-16-06
"6.0 Oil Recommendations:
Some trucks with the 6.0 may exhibit hard starting, rough running and lack of power in cold temperatures, particularly on a cold start. This may be due to the oil being to thick for the operating conditions. Ford is recommending to use the following oils for the listed operating temperature.
SAE 15W-40 is the preferred oil above 30 degrees, but it is acceptable for use down to 10 degrees, and is recommended for towing down to this temperature.
SAE 10W-30 is the preferred weight between -10 to 30 degrees.
SAE 5W-30 and 5W-40 is acceptable for use below 30 degrees, and 0W-30 is acceptable below zero.
(All temperatures are in Fahrenheit.)
The oil used should meet Ford's specification of WSS-M2C171-D or API CI-4 PLUS, CI-4/SL or DHD-1. CH-4 is acceptable for use if CI-4 PLUS is not available. TSB #05-16-6.
I've heard of dealers draining the oil and replacing it with a combination of oil and Kerosene, and running that at idle for a period of time. Then the oil is replaced, drained, and new oil is reinstalled.
Anyone else heard of that procedure to cure sticky injectors?
