I bought a new sensor and swapped them out 1 at a time. Did not work. Really tight fit for the 2 center censors behind the rec. hitch.
I did find the wiring harness was loose and some of the plugs did not want to stay attached to the sensors. This was not the issue during testing as I kept them tight to test. I can see the wiring harness needs replacing. Don't think this will fix the issue though. My symptoms are light on the switch all the time and won't switch off.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated.
So for now no futher work until I have a new harness "next month$$" Jim
The light comes on an stays on in some fault conditions. I disconnected and removed my sensor harness and had the same symptom. Check the four sensor harness where it connects to the main chassis harness first, then check each of the sensors where they plug in.
Basically that is what I have done. I used 1 new sensor and replaced 1 thru 4 one at a time until all 4 had been tested. ( there could be more than 1 defective but I only have 1 new sensor). I found the harness to be in bad shape with dirt and plastic tabs that would not hold the wire connecter firmly. during the test I tie wrapped them to make sure they were in place. I plan to replace the wiring harness from the chassy to the sensors to see if that helps. And I still have the 1 new sensor if needed. Just don't have a reliable way to diagnose the issue. Jim
Yeah, it sounded like you were doing the old Christmas tree light check. Can you borrow someone else's? Unclip the working sensors from their bumper mount and then try a swap with your harness? If only one sensor is bad (which you don't know), then it's probabaly the harness connection. Using your approache is hosed if there are two bad sensors or connectors.
