hi, my drivers side wheel bearing just failed on my truck at @ 69k miles. i did some reading and everyone recommends replacing the whole hub but which ones have had good luck? i know retail from the dealer is $600+ and napa is $4xx, i looked on ebay here http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
that one is $250. mainly looking for everyones experience with the different replacement hubs. i want to do this once and not have to have to replace it for pretty long time... thanks in advance!
It makes no sense but the last time I checked the wheel bearing/hub assemblys with the ABS sensor were cheaper than the non-ABS ones so whether or not you have ABS you might want to get the ABS part. If you don't have 4Wheel ABS you can just cut the wire to the sensor.
my truck has 4wheel abs, so i need it either way. i didn't actually call the dealer yet but maybe i should. i was going by the prices other people said
I negotiated with the guy at my local dealership and got one for $300....including the cable, and the yellow O-ring. Try and get them to come off their list price and see if you have any success....
i work for a car dealer and i called my local pep boys warehouse, not the actual store. i got it for $230. they all come with the abs sensor, the wheel lug studs, yellow gasket, and the hub studs. quality parts.
Different dealers DO charge different prices for same item. One local dealer wanted $60 over MSRP for a part. I called another dealer and they quoted $25 under MSRP, so go figure.
I see that Vosko got his hub bearing but a word on the abs/non abs units. I have a 2000 that I bought used. It had a abs hub bearing even thought the truck is not a front abs truck. The sensor had been taken off and siliconed over. It worked ok but the wheel studs were short. With the factory alloys they didn't make it all the way through the lugnuts. This could be an issue with after market hub bearings. Thanks.
