hi, i have a problem, my powerstroke 7.3 ( 2001 ) is starting when machine is cold, if it get warm, it dies. you cannot start then. ten minutes later you can start again, but if it get warm.....i have an DIABLOSPORT-Programmer, and i get codes P1000 and P0603. i have changed oil with filter, diesel filter, oil pressure switch.is there anyone who has an idea?
hope you can understand me, because i live in germany.
When the truck dies and you try to restart it can you here the fuel pump running when you turn the key back on? You may have a relay that is shutting off when it gets warm. Check it out and let us know. I will keep thinking about it. Welcome to fte by the way. You'll love it!!
when i restart, the fuel pump runs 12 seconds, and then it shut off. for an hour i lost the batteries and then there is no trouble code.i want to restart, but the motor cannot start.what now?
The ipr is in the side of the fuel canister and is the return flow pressure regulator. I think he may mean the sensor for the oil pressure located underneath the canister. It eludes my mind the name at the moment.
thank you all very much, but i thougt, if the car cannot start, what is with the CPS?
i have one new here, and i change it. thats it, i drive 20 mls and it drives very good.
i am so happy. but i dont know, why the machine starts up, if it is cold? can me someone tell me this. i dont understand this.

current theory on CPS internals : some of the components become heat sensitive and "break connections" when they get warm due to thermal expansion in the CPS. at 12 volts the gap you can bridge with an arc is about .003". Since the CPS works at 5 volts a gap of 1 or 2 thousands will shut it down. some materials will grow .005 to .010 for a hundred degree temperature difference which is what the front of your truck can see.
Since the bad CPS causes fuel timing (really important to running diesels) to go away, your computer thereby has a hissy fit and won't let the truck run.
my $.02 your mileage may vary. OH Yeah: buy and carry a spare CPS just for such occasions.
