I am rewiring to my 51 and converting to a 12 volt alternater. I need a complete wire schematic as is now. Is that a site on the net is I can down load a drawing?
For less than $10 you can buy the operator's manual for your specific year truck. Check out motorhaven.com - I got mine from Sacramento Vintage Ford and they're available at many retailers.
The wiring harness is in there for under dash, under hood, tail lights, etc. and all by wire color. Pretty straight forward for '48 at least, especially if you're using stock wire colors.
I have a harness diagram I could send, but it's for the 48 and your gauges and light harness would probably differ.
Go to the on line store and buy a service manual it has all the wiring diagrams in it.
I did my 51 a couple of years ago and it was worth it weight in gold.
>Thanks I feel real dumb, I have the manual and have looked
>at the page. I don't see the ingnition switch
If you feel dumb you sure aren't the first person. I finally noticed after about a year and a half that, while there is THE electrical diagram in my 1956 Shop Manual, it doesn't have everything on it. The horn for example. I started looking through the book more carefully and found there are at least a dozen other places where various sub-circuits and devices are illustrated and the circuits are laid out. Don't know about the '51 Shop Manual but it's possible it has the same "features". See if you can find an illustration or diagram in the ignition or instruments section.

The only reference I can find on the schematic for the ignition switch is in the insert showing the wire from the coil. The stock ignition switch did nothing much else than energize the coil and turn on the instruments, which are also not shown on the schematic. The only option on this circuit my '49 F1 had when I bought it was the after market heater fan. All else is pretty much energized all the time, including the starter motor. The short jumper from the circuit breaker to the ignition switch and the switch itself should be added to the schematic. The instrument circuits are shown elsewhere in the manual.
