Has anyone seen the new 2007 Jaguar XKR. Man, that thing cost from $86,500. Can you believe such things. 420 hp 4.2L V8 is pretty impressive. But, for that price I would by two SuperDuty's. Is this new jaguar something that can compete with the GTO and Corvette. What do you guys think.
Meh- it's a nice car- but it's no Z06 either. Jaguar XK's appeal to a specific market- performance/luxury combo, and not many manufactuers play in that sandbox anymore.
I had to laugh when I read this one on the new threads list. I just finished reading a bunch of super duty threads and then to start this one, all I could visualize was a jag scraping its bumper because of a load of gravel.
For what it's worth, I'm saving up for a jag diesel. So far I have about 18 cents. Now, if I could just stop using that money for nonessentials like fuel.
I totally agree with Polarbear on this one. If I was spending that kind of money I'd want a z06 Corvette. Lots of value there and the Jag won't come close to it on the road.
It’s a different kind of luxury. As far as comfort goes maybe the Jag has an edge with an associated 680 lb. weight disadvantage. But in features like power, torque, handling, braking, electronics and stability at speed the Vette wins. That’s my kind of luxury. Plus when you need parts, prices are Chevy prices not Jag luxury import prices. The Jag might look nice but under the skin the Vette has it beat. Why would you want to buy an import what you can get an american icon?
but in features like power, torque, handling, braking, electronics and stability at speed the Vette wins
But equally in features like ride, refinement, class... etc. the Jag has 1 or 3 over the Vette.
The Jag is a car (like a lot of British high-end vehicles) that is crafted, the Vette is a car that is raced...
Oh I don't know about that Fred. Know doubt from a stand point of interior refinement it will be a cut above a Vette. But ride I guess that would depend on the Vette. Mine rides pretty nice and only gets better with speed. Someone with the F55 suspension rides even better. I had no problems with my Vette on my 7000 mile trip this summer. In fact one of the most relaxing trips I have ever made. Class well that is personal opinon. Pretty hard to beat the lines of the Corvette. But if is a very good looking car.
P.S. Forget comparing it to the Z06 except from maybe a price point. A base C6 will run circles around it for 30K less.
