Art,
It should fit fine. There are very few differences in the F-1 beds from 48-72. By late 50 fenders...do you mean they are like 51-52 fenders? If so, they should bolt on. The 48-50 bed did not have flat sides like the 51-72 so you have to use 48-50 fenders with them. Most aftermarket beds are styled after the 51-72 bed and you must use 51-52 fenders on it if putting it on a 48-52. My ProsPick bed was like that...
When I got my 48 it had a 56-72 bed with it. Not attached, just sitting on it.
While I never used it, I did notice the crossmember bolt holes did not (quite) line up. Close, but will require some new holes.
It sat ok, best I can remember, but it has been 3 years now.
Vern nailed it, the 48 to mid 50 beds are different in that the bedsides have a raised panel on the sides and curved stake pockets. In mid 50 they changed to a flat sided bed with square stake pockets.
I think the later bed should fit your truck just fine. You might have to redrill the fender holes a bit but it should sit right.
Thanks for the info.I'm going to pick it up friday. My fenders are off a 51 ford truck.I might end up with a bed yet.Steve1103 I might know a guy that has a 53 bed for sell.Don't know the price but I can find out if you like.I got my frame painted, frontend back in, my disc brake and power brake kits on, and just about done putting the motor and tranny back in.Starting to look like someone is working on it instead of parting it out. Thanks for all the help guys.
