Passed 150K last weekend so I thought a little maintenance was in order. Replaced the original water pump, thermostat and fan clutch. I also replaced the belts, hoses and coolant (Gold). All the hard stuff came from Ford the soft stuff from Pep Boys.
I have the 6 speed manual trans and I drained the 90wt and replenished it with 75w90 Synthetic. Boy does the trans shift better. I usually shift w/o using the clutch and routinely bust through the syncros and clash the gears lightly. With this new oil it is hard to bust through the syncros and grind. And when I did it was like it was cousioned.
I also replaced the exhaust donuts on the up pipe. The left side was a piece of cake. The right side I couldnt get the pipe off because of the 3" downpipe. I realized the donuts did not need replacing, only tightening of the flange to compress the donut more so thats all I did to the right side. No more hissing when I hit the exhaust brake.
I have paid this truck off last week so I am looking for a new one.
i dont know why you want to sell it. a few dollars here and a few dollars there, and you can have a truck that runs better than a 6.0 with 150K miles, i dont know if you will get what you are expecting out of it. if i were you, i'd keep it. the new trucks are fun to drive, but a PITA to own because of the problematic 6.0.
you have one of the best years of powerstroke engines, my friend.
Strokin's right! These trucks are awesome right up and beyond 250K. Believe me, the ones we own at my company get the real torture test, going cross-country fully loaded pulling 25 foot goosenecks and a crew of four guys who frankly don't crack a hood to save their lives. ALL of ours are over that 250K mark and in january we are going to cycle them out, but not for 6.0's. We are going to start sending out two '07 3/4 tons instead, each loaded lighter but still with 4 guys apiece (we just need more guys on the job!) even if you only get another 1-2 years out of yours, you'd be saving 10-12K in payments alone.
He didnt say he was selling it just looking for a new one.
Judgeing by his name and truck it looks like he is a HVAC tech and a 2002 should just about be depriciated for tax purposes so he will need another "rightoff" to start on
You are right amiller93. I have been training a new employee and I plan on cycling the '02 down to him and get myself an f 550. I repair air compressors for a living. I drive at least 100 miles a day and live in central CA. I often have to go into Nevada or up to Northern CA and even Southern CA, to get the jobe done. I am also at my max GVW with the sevice body and hoist and my tools.
Also, the truck is just another tool that I can write-off.
